Larry's Journey

On his family’s farm in Iowa, Larry discovered his love for crystals and semi-precious stones.  From collecting agates along Lake Superior to discovering fossils and unique rocks in his dad’s fields, his childhood curiosity turned into a lifelong passion.

Over the years, Larry explored destinations around the globe, collecting unique rocks, striking crystals, and ancient fossils. What started as a kid’s fascination with rocks became decades of traveling the world to source everything from common to fine mineral specimens.

Our Family Business

Today —Larry with wife Rose, daughter Lacey, and granddaughter Emma—ensures Gems of the Earth and More is Alaska’s most affordable and friendly rock shop, dedicated to sharing the beauty of the earth with every customer. It’s become a true family tradition…three generations sharing their love of earth’s treasures with folks who walk through their doors.
